Emre Görgülü (KIT) was honoured with the Best Paper Award at the 16th International Conference on Ambient Systems, Networks and Technologies (ANT). The award-winning paper entitled ‘Integrating establishments in an agent-based modelling framework for urban parcel shipments on the first and last mile’ shows how urban business premises are explicitly integrated into the modelling of CEP shipments for the first time.
The open-source model is based on freely accessible data and expert interviews and proves that urban facilities play a central role in urban delivery traffic – a previously greatly underestimated influencing factor.
